New Treatments for the New Year | Ask The Expert with Dr. Kilmer

by | Jan 2, 2025

LASER & SKIN SURGERY MEDICAL GROUP INC. Dr. Suzanne Kilmer, founder of the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Northern California and Clinical Professor at UC Davis, Department of Dermatology, has conducted hundreds of clinical trials and is internationally recognized as a thought leader in anti-aging procedures.

What treatments are most popular right now?

There is a trend toward treatments that address volume loss due to aging and rapid weight changes. Combining dermal fillers and bio-stimulatory injectables with skin-tightening and muscle-stimulation devices that utilize radiofrequency and ultrasound technology can improve skin elasticity and boost collagen production. Muscle stimulation devices help reduce muscle loss while improving strength, balance and overall appearance.

What new treatments have you introduced in the last year?

Our favorite new “toy” is the UltraClear resurfacing laser. This innovative colder technology is safe and effective for all skin tones, including darker skin types. It treats pigmentation, wrinkles, laxity and scars with less pain and downtime, resulting in smoother skin, softened scars and happy patients! Emface is a muscle stimulation device that lifts the cheeks and brows. The newly introduced submental applicator specifically targets fat under the chin. Combining Emface with Sofwave or dermal fillers creates a youthful, sculpted appearance. Still have stubborn fat after weight loss? CoolSculpting can target those areas. For the body, Pure Impact uses Plyopulse technology to target multiple muscle groups simultaneously in 30 minutes to better mimic natural muscle movement. Accure “cures” acne and will be studied for oily skin and sebaceous hyperplasia.
